SERVICE 01
Individual Therapy
1:1 trauma-informed therapy with Shenelle — 50 minutes, one person at a time. This is not surface-level work. We go to the root of what is holding you back and build something different from the ground up.
You will not sit across from someone who nods and stays silent. You will have real conversations. You will be challenged when challenge is what you need. And you will always feel seen — not managed.

SERVICE 02
Single and Relationship Trauma Therapy
Dating trauma is real, documented, and deeply underserved. Too many therapists treat it as a footnote. At ALS it is a specialty — because the wounds left by love, loss, and the dating experience affect every other area of your life.
This service is for anyone navigating the full spectrum of relationship pain. I see the person who was hurt and the person who did the hurting — because healing requires honesty on both sides.
The goal is not just to process what happened. It is to gain clarity on what you want, understand your patterns, and learn how to go after love in a way that is healthy — for you and for the people you bring into your life.
WHAT WE UNPACK
Dating trauma and painful patterns in love
Infidelity — both the person hurt and the person who strayed
Self-esteem and self-worth in relationships
Getting back into the dating pool after hurt or loss
Not knowing how to date or what you actually want
Ghosting, rejection, and attachment styles
Relationship challenges — with self, friends, and partners
HOW THIS IS DIFFERENT
Most therapy around dating focuses on processing the breakup. This service focuses on you — who you are in relationships, why you choose who you choose, what you've been taught to believe about love, and what you want to build going forward. The ex is not the point. You are.

SERVICE 03
Relationship Clarity Counseling
This is couples counseling — but not the kind most people think of. Relationship Clarity Counseling is specifically for couples who are not yet married and are at a decision point.
You are getting more serious and want to make sure you are building on the right foundation. Or you have hit some challenges and are wondering whether to work through them or walk away. Or you are considering the next level of commitment and need real clarity before you get there.
This is not crisis counseling. This is intentional, decision-oriented work for two people who want to go in with their eyes open.
THIS SERVICE IS FOR COUPLES WHO ARE
Getting serious and want to build on a solid foundation
Navigating challenges and asking whether to stay or go
Considering deeper commitment and need clarity first
Not yet married — this is pre-commitment counseling
Please note: Relationship Clarity Counseling is for pre-committed couples only. If you are married and looking for couples therapy, I am happy to provide referrals to a therapist who specializes in marital work.

A workplace that is making you sick is a clinical issue — not a personality problem, not an overreaction, and not something you should just push through. Hostile environments, discrimination, harassment, toxic leadership, and burnout all leave real marks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The questions people
are afraid to ask.
-
If you are asking that question, the answer is probably yes — you could benefit from therapy. Therapy is not just for people in crisis. It is for anyone who wants to understand themselves better, break patterns that keep showing up, or process things that haven't fully healed. You don't have to be at rock bottom to deserve support.
-
That is one of the most common things I hear — and one of the most important. A bad therapy experience often comes from being mismatched with someone who didn't understand your background or culture. The free consultation exists so you can get a real sense of who I am before you commit to anything. You are allowed to ask hard questions.
-
It depends. Some clients work through a specific situation in a few months. Others are addressing longer-standing patterns that take more time. I don't keep people in therapy longer than they need — the goal is always for you to build the capacity to navigate your life without needing me the way you did when you started. We review progress regularly and you are always part of that conversation.
-
Yes. I accept Medicaid (DC, MD, VA), Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealth, and most EAP plans. If you have insurance, you typically pay only your copay — often $0–$60. Not sure if your plan is accepted? Reach out before booking and I will help you verify. Full details on the Pricing page.
-
Private pay is $200 per session and $225 for the intake. HSA and FSA funds are accepted. If cost is a barrier, reach out — I would rather find a way than turn someone away who is ready to do the work.
-
For most clients and most issues — yes. Research consistently shows that telehealth therapy produces comparable outcomes to in-person sessions. The therapeutic relationship is what makes therapy work, and that relationship can be just as strong over video. Both options are available — you choose what works best for you.
-
I ask for 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Life happens and I understand that — I will always work with you when something genuine comes up. Consistent late cancellations affect other clients who are waiting, so this policy protects everyone.
-
Yes. I work with adults of all genders. Men are often underserved in therapy spaces — either because they haven't felt safe enough to seek help or because they've encountered therapists who didn't know how to engage them. That is not the experience here. If you are ready to do the work, you are welcome.
-
FMLA allows eligible employees to take unpaid, job-protected leave for qualifying medical reasons including mental health conditions. I provide FMLA documentation support as an add-on to therapy. A minimum of three sessions is required before paperwork is completed. A separate $150–$300 administrative fee applies depending on complexity — paid before completion and non-refundable once work begins.
